Legal Counsel – Fintech

About the role

Valiant Finance is seeking a full‑stack Legal Counsel to sit at the centre of its day‑to‑day legal function. Reporting to the CFO & General Counsel, the role blends commercial contract work, regulatory oversight, privacy compliance and legal operations across Australia, the US, the UK and Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Own the flow of funding partner agreements, platform services agreements and vendor contracts, from term‑sheet to signature and renewal.
• Draft, negotiate and manage enterprise agreements with global OEMs, banks and financing partners, including master platform and framework agreements.
• Develop and continuously improve precedent contracts, negotiation playbooks and self‑serve processes for the business.
• Act as internal expert on regulatory requirements for commercial finance broking and embedded finance in Australia, and coordinate external counsel for US and UK/EU compliance.
• Run corporate secretarial duties, board documentation, multi‑entity administration and support new market entries.
• Operate the legal tech stack (contract lifecycle, e‑signature, entity management, matter tracking) and evaluate new AI‑driven legal tools.

Required profile

• Minimum 4+ years post‑qualification experience in corporate/commercial, banking & finance or technology practice with an Australian practising certificate.
• Proven ability to draft precise contracts, negotiate confidently with large counterparties and manage complex multi‑jurisdictional deals.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and comfortable working hands‑on in a fast‑growth, resource‑constrained environment.
• Strong commercial mindset, able to translate legal risk into plain‑English advice and dollar‑based impact.

Required skills

• Experience with AI‑enabled legal tools (e.g., Claude CoWork) and legal operations software.
• Proficiency in contract lifecycle management, e‑signature platforms and entity management systems.
