Legal Counsel – Legal & Governance

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Legal & Governance team. You will work on a variety of project engagements across construction, advisory and digital services, providing legal and risk advice to senior leadership and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Review, negotiate and manage contracts for project engagements.
• Provide legal, risk and governance advice to business units and senior leaders.
• Collaborate with client project teams and internal stakeholders across the enterprise.
• Manage external law firms and oversee dispute resolution.
• Deliver training on legal and governance matters to Aurecon employees.

Required profile

• Admission to practice law in NSW or Victoria (based in Sydney or Melbourne).
• 4‑6 years post‑qualification experience, ideally a mix of private practice and in‑house roles.
• Strong knowledge of construction and engineering law, as well as cyber, data and AI requirements.
• Proven ability to simplify complex issues and work in a fast‑paced matrix organisation.
