Lawyer / Senior Lawyer – Technology Legal

About the role

Westpac is seeking an experienced Lawyer or Senior Lawyer to join its Technology Legal team. The role works closely with the group managing technology assets, supplier relationships and contracts, supporting major digital and transformation initiatives across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and lead negotiations on a wide range of technology contracts and transactions.
• Identify and resolve legal issues, briefing stakeholders on key matters and negotiation status.
• Collaborate with internal and external parties to ensure compliance with laws, internal policies and the bank’s risk strategy.

Required profile

• 6+ years post‑qualification experience advising on complex technology, digital and cyber matters.
• Strong commercial judgement with the ability to provide practical legal advice while managing risk.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and influence decisions.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies such as AI, privacy, data and digital transformation.
