Lawyer – Commercial Insurance Legal

About the role

Provide high‑impact legal advice to Suncorp’s commercial insurance claims teams, working within a close‑knit, highly skilled group of lawyers. The role offers varied work, commercial stakeholder engagement and flexible hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver commercially aware legal advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and settlement matters.
• Partner with stakeholders across Commercial Property, Liability, Professional Indemnity, Financial Lines and Strata portfolios.
• Draft and review product disclosure statements, policy wordings, endorsements and customer‑facing material.
• Advise on regulatory compliance including the Insurance Contracts Act, ASIC, APRA and privacy legislation.

Required profile

• Practising Certificate and admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in any Australian Court (mandatory).
• 5‑10 years of relevant experience in a mid‑to top‑tier law firm or large insurer.
• Strong analytical abilities, high ethical standards and the ability to influence stakeholders.

Required skills

• Legal indemnity and policy interpretation.
• Liability, quantum and settlement law.
• Regulatory compliance (financial services legislation, ASIC, APRA).
• Drafting of policy wordings, disclosures and endorsements.
