Key Account Manager – Business Development

About the role

Cleanaway is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join its Key Accounts team, focusing on Australia’s largest and most strategic customers. Based in NSW/ACT, you will work on enterprise‑level, solution‑led opportunities with complex, multi‑site organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, target and develop new business opportunities across multi‑state, national customers.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline from prospecting through to contract close.
• Develop tailored, commercially sound solutions for complex, multi‑site needs.
• Lead proposals and tenders end‑to‑end, collaborating with Bids & Tenders, Commercial, Operations and specialist teams.
• Negotiate outcomes that balance customer requirements, operational delivery and sustainable growth.
• Own newly won accounts through onboarding and successful transition.

Required profile

• Proven B2B business development experience in industrial, manufacturing, FMCG, retail, facilities management or similar complex environments.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to balance margin, operational constraints and sustainable growth.
• Confidence influencing stakeholders from operational teams to C‑suite executives.
• Experience working cross‑functionally to develop complex customer solutions.
• Self‑starting mindset, able to work autonomously and navigate ambiguity.
