Human Resources Specialist (Sydney or Melbourne)

About the role

A proactive and detail-oriented Human Resources Specialist is sought to support HR operations across Australia. The role covers the full employee lifecycle, gives guidance on Australian employment legislation, supports employee relations matters and contributes to regional HR initiatives. It is based in either the Sydney office or the Melbourne office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, probation, internal transfers, employment changes and offboarding, and maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, applicable Modern Awards and internal HR policies, and monitor regulatory developments.
• Partner with line managers on employee relations matters such as performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances, workplace investigations and employment terminations, and give practical HR guidance.
• Oversee daily HR administration, leave management, payroll coordination, employee data management and HR reporting, and analyse workforce data to improve HR processes.
• Coordinate onboarding, compliance training, employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives, and support HR policy implementation and regional projects across Australia and New Zealand.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably in the Australian market.
• Demonstrated experience in employee relations, HR operations and handling sensitive workplace matters.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills, with a high level of professionalism, discretion and attention to detail.
• English and Mandarin proficiency is essential, with strong verbal and written Mandarin needed for regular communication with Mandarin-speaking regional stakeholders.
