Head of Product & Proposition

About the role

The Head of Product & Proposition will lead the design, delivery and ongoing management of merchant products and propositions for ANZ’s Business and Institutional divisions. This senior role is responsible for the full product portfolio, profit and loss performance, and strategic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the merchant product and proposition strategy across all customer segments.
• Own the end‑to‑end product portfolio, roadmap and prioritisation of initiatives that improve customer experience and business performance.
• Develop propositions using customer insights, market trends and industry knowledge to drive acquisition, retention and growth.
• Establish product governance, ensuring compliance with risk, regulatory and customer outcome requirements.
• Partner with internal teams and external ecosystem partners (schemes, fintechs, technology providers, processors) to commercialise innovative acquiring solutions.
• Lead a high‑performing team, fostering continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Deep experience in merchant acquiring, payments or transaction banking with a strong understanding of settlement, scheme economics and customer needs across small business to institutional segments.
• Proven product and proposition leadership, including strategy, roadmap ownership and commercialisation of new products.
• Experience establishing product governance frameworks and managing regulatory and risk obligations.
• Senior stakeholder leadership and people management experience, with the ability to influence executive decisions.
