Manager, Operational Risk, Transaction Banking & Payments

About the role

The Manager, Operational Risk will support second‑line oversight of non‑financial and operational risks across the Institutional division. You will work on designated Institutional businesses and products, providing independent review, challenge and advice on risk identification, assessments and control design.

Key responsibilities

• Support second‑line oversight for designated Institutional businesses, products or portfolios such as Markets, Transaction Banking and Corporate Finance.
• Review and challenge material risks, risk assessments and control design/effectiveness across processes, systems and data flows.
• Identify and escalate control gaps, weaknesses or inefficiencies, especially where risks impact multiple teams or products.
• Provide clear and practical risk advice to stakeholders and contribute to governance discussions.
• Prepare and review risk reporting and committee materials, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and key themes.
• Assist in reviewing and challenging risk appetite metrics, key risk indicators and control measures.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of non‑financial risk frameworks, operational risk and regulatory expectations.
• Experience reviewing risk assessments, control design and effectiveness, and applying sound risk judgement.
• Ability to provide constructive challenge and practical risk advice to business stakeholders.
• Good understanding of the Institutional banking environment and its value‑chain activities.
• Strong critical thinking, decision‑making and communication skills.
