Financial Tax Accountant

About the role

This newly created position sits within a well‑established banking organisation in Sydney and reports to the Head of Financial & Accounting. You will be responsible for both day‑to‑day financial operations and comprehensive tax compliance, supporting the finance team while driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily financial operations: payment processing, account reconciliations, journal entries and documentation.
• Prepare, review and lodge Australian tax obligations including BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and Corporate Income Tax.
• Maintain tax documentation and support ATO reviews, audits and related requests.
• Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on the business.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close, financial and regulatory reporting.
• Support internal control development and participate in finance‑tax projects and stakeholder training.
• Assist with internal and external audit activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualification (or working towards).
• Minimum 3 years of financial accounting and taxation experience in banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation (GST, BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax, Corporate Income Tax).
• Fluency in English and Mandarin.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting systems.
• Exposure to Power BI.
• Exposure to Tableau.
