Financial Controller – Global Finance Leader

About the role

We are looking for a high‑calibre Financial Controller to join our global finance team. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the integrity of financial reporting, internal controls and statutory compliance for a multi‑currency, multi‑entity group that includes Freelancer, Escrow.com and Loadshift.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, half‑year and year‑end closing processes and ensure accurate consolidation of subsidiaries across multiple currencies.
• Prepare statutory financial statements in line with IFRS/AASB and manage all ASX and regulatory filings.
• Own the global audit process, act as the primary liaison for external auditors and maintain a robust internal control environment.
• Oversee global tax compliance, including GST/VAT, corporate income tax and R&D tax incentive claims.
• Drive operational excellence by refining and automating financial systems, cash‑management and treasury functions, including FX risk management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a CA or CPA qualification.
• 8+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably starting at a Big 4 firm and followed by a senior reporting or controllership role in an ASX‑listed or high‑growth tech environment.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a global finance team.
• Detail‑oriented mindset with the capacity to thrive under pressure.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of IFRS/AASB standards.
• Experience with complex multi‑currency consolidations.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and financial automation tools.
• Strong expertise in cash management and FX risk mitigation.
