Excavator Operator – Civil Construction

About the role

Ertech is looking for experienced Excavator Operators to join the Wakehurst Parkway Improvement Project in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. You will operate excavators up to 35 tonnes in a busy urban environment, delivering earthworks, drainage and pavement construction for a major road upgrade.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators up to 35 tonnes safely and efficiently.
• Perform GPS final‑trim excavation to specification.
• Assist with earthworks, drainage and pavement activities.
• Work safely around live services and existing infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain environmental controls.
• Conduct pre‑start inspections and routine equipment checks.
• Collaborate with site teams to meet project milestones.
• Undertake occasional night shifts and weekend work as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating excavators up to 35 tonnes on civil construction projects.
• Demonstrated GPS final‑trim operating experience.
• Previous work on urban road construction and around underground services.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental compliance.
• Nationally recognised excavator operator competency/ticket.
• Construction White Card, current driver’s licence and police clearance (or ability to obtain).
• Full Australian working rights.
• Willingness to work occasional night shifts and weekends.
