ETCS Signalling Specialist - Brisbane

About the role

Transport & Strategy is looking for an ETCS Signalling Specialist for a full-time, hybrid position based in Brisbane, QLD. The role provides technical expertise in European Train Control System (ETCS) signalling for transport infrastructure projects, working within a major engineering and rail safety environment. It supports the delivery and assurance of one of Australia's significant rail transformation programs, initially focusing on tunnel operations, testing, commissioning and revenue service readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review ETCS signalling designs and contribute to system integration and safety assurance activities.
• Support project teams with technical analysis and documentation, and help ensure signalling solutions meet regulatory, operational and performance requirements.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, safety, operational and delivery parties, and take part in design and assurance workshops.
• Support project planning, risk identification and continuous improvement in signalling processes and standards.
• Review and assure signalling design artefacts and engineering submissions, and review safety assurance reports, safety cases, risk assessments and derogations.
• Provide technical coordination and progress reporting across signalling activities.
• Facilitate technical workshops, support equipment type approval, technical queries and requests for information, and assist with commissioning readiness and Permission-to-Use documentation.

Required profile

• RPEQ accreditation (or equivalent registration where applicable).
• Engineering qualification recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Minimum 10 years' railway signalling experience.
• Based in Brisbane and working full time at the client's office.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of signalling design, assurance and engineering review processes.
• Experience reviewing technical documentation, engineering submissions and safety-related artefacts.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
