Environmental Health Officer

About the role

Randstad is recruiting, on behalf of a local government Council, an experienced or emerging Environmental Health Officer (EHO) for its Environmental Health & Immunisation team in Logan City, South East Queensland. The officer delivers regulatory environmental health services, manages licensing, conducts site inspections and investigates public health complaints in line with statutory obligations and Council policy. The contract starts as soon as possible and runs until 30 April 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an allocated caseload of public and environmental health inspections, licensing applications and approvals.
• Investigate and respond to customer complaints, requests and public health incidents efficiently.
• Prepare clear, professional technical reports, notices and legislative correspondence.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Queensland legislation such as the Food Act 2006, Public Health Act 2005, Environmental Protection Act 1994 and relevant Local Laws.

Required profile

• A recognised degree in Environmental Health eligible for membership with Environmental Health Australia (EHA).
• Current, valid C Class Queensland driver's licence.
• Sound working knowledge of QLD public and environmental health legislation and local government processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to manage customer expectations and write technical reports.
• Openness to after-hours on-call duties and inspections if required, and willingness to comply with standard vaccination requirements for field personnel.
