Engineer – Roads & Highways

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Roads & Highways Engineer to join its Sydney team and help shape the future of transport infrastructure across New South Wales. You will work alongside experienced specialists on the planning, design and delivery of road and highway projects, gaining exposure to client engagement and project management.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality road and highway design solutions that comply with Australian Standards, client requirements and SMEC quality systems.
• Perform analysis, design and documentation tasks across multiple projects, preparing calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Support project delivery through effective planning, coordination and monitoring of scope, schedule, risks and budgets.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of design outputs into construction phases.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Civil or related) with up to three years of experience in road or highway design.
• Strong understanding of Australian road design standards and best practices.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
