Director, Group Strategy

About the role

Westpac is seeking a Director of Group Strategy to shape the bank’s long‑term direction. You will partner with senior leaders to solve complex business challenges, identify growth opportunities, and translate strategic concepts into actionable plans.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end strategic projects, from problem definition through recommendation and execution.
• Provide insights and evidence‑based recommendations that inform key business decisions across the Group.
• Collaborate closely with executive stakeholders, influencing outcomes and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
• Coach and develop members of the Strategy team, fostering a culture of thought leadership and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven ability to think strategically and solve complex, ambiguous business problems.
• Experience developing insights that support strategic decision‑making in a regulated environment.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of presenting complex ideas clearly.
