Cyber Security Engineer (Microsoft Security Uplift)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to lead critical security uplift initiatives for a large Queensland Government environment. The role is hands‑on and focuses on strengthening the Microsoft technology stack to meet Essential Eight and industry best‑practice standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) across legacy applications and systems.
• Enhance and optimise Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), including logging and monitoring capabilities.
• Deliver cyber‑security uplift projects aligned with the Essential Eight framework.
• Produce technical designs, documentation and implementation plans.
• Drive technical change management and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Support business continuity, backup, high‑availability and system decommissioning activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering Microsoft security uplift projects in complex enterprise or government settings.
• Hands‑on engineering expertise with a focus on security architecture and implementation.
• Strong technical documentation and stakeholder engagement abilities.
