Corporate Counsel – In‑house Legal Role

About the role

Goodstart is seeking experienced Corporate Counsel to join its in‑house legal team in Murarrie, Brisbane. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide trusted, commercially‑focused legal advice to a large national not‑for‑profit organisation that supports early learning and care for thousands of children.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, practical legal advice across a broad range of corporate matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, leases, freehold acquisitions and other legal documents.
• Support complex negotiations and represent Goodstart in mediations, tribunals and other legal proceedings.
• Manage external law firms to ensure value and alignment with business objectives.
• Partner with internal stakeholders, building trusted relationships and influencing outcomes.
• Contribute to policy development, precedents and risk‑management practices.
• Mentor junior legal team members and promote a collaborative environment.

Required profile

• Minimum five years post‑admission experience as a qualified legal practitioner in Australia.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver commercial legal solutions in a complex, multi‑jurisdictional environment.
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Experience managing external counsel and large‑scale contracts, particularly property‑related agreements.
