Coordinator Engineering Design (Civil)

About the role

The Council is seeking an experienced engineering leader to coordinate civil engineering design and documentation for infrastructure projects across the Gold Coast. Reporting to the Manager Engineering Design and Specifications, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and ensure safe, sustainable, and fit‑for‑purpose solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of engineers, designers and drafters.
• Manage delivery of civil engineering design services for the Council’s capital works program.
• Provide technical governance, oversee design quality and conduct design reviews.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, manage project interfaces and stakeholder relationships.
• Apply Safety in Design principles and manage design‑related risks.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering standards, procedures and practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering design teams and delivering civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of engineering governance, design assurance and risk management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Commitment to safety, continuous improvement and customer‑focused service delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and eligibility for RPEQ registration.
