Commercial Manager – WA Food Business

About the role

Metcash is looking for a Commercial Manager to help shape the future of its WA Food business, drive profitable growth and strengthen its independent retail network. Working closely with the State Leadership team, the role connects commercial strategy, property opportunities, retailer partnerships and P&L performance. The position is based in Western Australia; candidates not currently based in WA are considered if they are willing to relocate.

Key responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to grow revenue, improve margins and strengthen the performance of the wholesale business and independent retail network.
• Structure and negotiate commercial agreements, rebates and retailer arrangements.
• Understand retail P&Ls, assess commercial models and evaluate property and investment opportunities.
• Turn data and business insights into recommendations and challenge assumptions to influence decisions.
• Partner with State leaders on business planning, budgets, forecasting and performance improvement.
• Work across Retail, Property, Finance, Supply Chain and other teams to turn strategy into action.

Required profile

• Proven track record of delivering revenue growth, profitability and business improvement.
• Experience in commercial retail, commercial property, revenue growth management or a related commercial discipline.
• Solid understanding of retail economics, P&L performance, commercial models and deal structuring.
• Confidence negotiating commercial agreements and influencing retailers and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
