Collections Officer - Non Grocery

About the role

Bega Group is looking for an experienced Collections Officer to protect cash flow across its high-value, high-volume Non-Grocery portfolio. You will take full ownership of end-to-end collections for assigned accounts, applying strong credit discipline to recover debt and control risk. The role works closely with Sales, Customer Service and Finance to run collection strategies and improve processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end collections across an assigned portfolio of accounts, recovering outstanding payments and minimising aged debt.
• Reduce overdue balances and keep customer accounts within agreed trading terms.
• Reconcile customer accounts, investigate and resolve payment, credit and invoice discrepancies, and clear aged items.
• Negotiate payment arrangements with customers, assessing risk and choosing appropriate collection strategies.
• Allocate and clear customer receipts, including resolving unallocated cash.
• Apply credit and commercial judgement to complex, high-value accounts and work with colleagues to improve processes and systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 2+ years' experience in Credit & Collections or Accounts Receivable in an FMCG or similar high-volume environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing large transactional accounts, including deduction management and use of major retailer portals.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, with experience handling inbound and outbound customer interactions.
• Excellent time management and organisation, able to prioritise competing deadlines in a fast pace.

Required skills

• SAP (or a comparable ERP system); SAP experience is highly regarded.
• Advanced Excel for data analysis, reporting and account management.
• Strong reconciliation capabilities and attention to detail.
