Clinical Nurse - Mental Health

About the role

Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse with a mental health background to join its Early Intervention Programs, working in partnership with Headspace to support young people aged 12 to 25. The nurse delivers specialist mental health nursing care and works autonomously across the Meadowbrook and Beaudesert Headspace centres, with opportunities to help develop the Early Intervention Program.

Key responsibilities

• Support young people aged 12-25 with complex mental health concerns to access timely, coordinated care.
• Deliver specialist mental health nursing care through assessment, care planning, therapeutic interventions and ongoing management.
• Work with Headspace and multidisciplinary teams to improve access to treatment, strengthen clinical pathways and support transitions between services.
• Provide clinical leadership through consultation, collaboration, education and guidance to other clinicians.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of the Early Intervention Program.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Experience in mental health nursing, ideally including child and youth mental health.
• Sound clinical judgement, a person-centred approach and the confidence to work with complex presentations and build therapeutic relationships.
• Commitment to clinical leadership, continuous learning and supporting the development of others.

Required skills

• Advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking.
• Ability to assess and manage complex mental health presentations and risks.
