Civil Structural Engineer

About the role

Join a thriving South Australian civil and structural engineering consultancy delivering innovative solutions across residential and small commercial projects. You will work closely with builders and drafters to produce meticulous structural and civil documentation while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and engineer solutions for footings, structural steel, concrete, timber designs and soil property analysis.
• Produce precise engineering drawings using AutoCAD and conduct calculations for pressures, loads and stresses.
• Prepare well‑written reports, review blueprints and change orders, and secure planning and building approvals.
• Organise site soil investigations, assess construction materials, and provide technical guidance.
• Oversee contractor work, conduct on‑site inspections, and ensure compliance with safety and structural standards.
• Manage, coordinate and report on engineering projects, researching emerging material technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Proficiency in residential footing/slab design, timber and steel framing.
• Strong ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication with builders, designers and tradespeople.
• Understanding of Australian standards for structural engineering.
• Class C Australian driver’s licence and own vehicle.

Required skills

• Advanced AutoCAD and CAD drafting skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
