Civil Estimator – Renewable Energy Infrastructure

About the role

The position supports an established infrastructure contractor expanding its renewable‑energy capability across Australia. Based in Brisbane or Melbourne, you will price civil works for major wind‑farm developments and work closely with engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents to prepare quantity take‑offs and first‑principles estimates.
• Develop rates for labour, plant, materials and subcontracted works and issue enquiries to suppliers.
• Assess quotations, identify scope gaps, and prepare assumptions, qualifications and exclusions.
• Identify tender risks, opportunities and alternative construction methodologies.
• Contribute to bid strategy, tender reviews and commercial discussions, and support post‑tender clarifications.

Required profile

• Proven experience estimating civil construction works, especially earthworks, drainage, roads and related infrastructure.
• Strong ability to develop first‑principles rates covering labour, plant, materials and productivity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to defend estimates and engage technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related discipline.

Required skills

• Experience with estimating software such as CostX, Candy, Benchmark or comparable tools.
• Strong drawing, specification and quantity take‑off capability.
• Knowledge of Australian construction practices, standards and the local subcontractor market.
