Career Medical Officer – Emergency Medicine (Armidale)

About the role

The Career Medical Officer will join a dedicated team of emergency specialists at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital, delivering high‑quality clinical care in a busy emergency department. You will ensure seamless continuity between inpatient and outpatient services while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of regional practice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency medical assessment, treatment and disposition for all patients.
• Lead night‑shift operations and act as in‑charge clinician when required.
• Supervise, mentor and teach junior medical staff and medical students.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain patient safety and improve clinical pathways.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental governance.

Required profile

• General Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility for registration) and at least three years post‑graduate experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise moderate professional autonomy.
• Commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety and continuous improvement.
• Willingness to develop leadership skills within the emergency department.
