Audit Director - Risk, Governance and Accountability

About the role

The Audit Director – Risk, Governance & Accountability leads Independent Audit’s assurance over ANZ’s risk governance and accountability frameworks. Reporting to the General Manager Audit – Financial Crime, Risk & Risk Culture, this senior leader shapes audit delivery across the portfolio and maintains strong senior stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver independent audit coverage across Risk, Communications & Public Affairs, and Legal & Corporate Governance functions in line with the approved audit plan.
• Form evidence‑based views on the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control frameworks, including CPS 220 and the Financial Accountability Regime.
• Own portfolio‑level risk assessment and audit planning, shaping coverage priorities across enterprise‑wide risk structures.
• Act as Internal Audit’s subject‑matter lead for non‑financial risk management and serve as Risk Champion for compliance, conduct, legal and reputational risks.
• Maintain senior stakeholder relationships and support the delivery of Internal Audit’s strategic priorities.
• Model the standards, behaviours and independence expected of audit leaders.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in internal audit, risk governance or related fields.
• Strong understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks and regulatory regimes such as CPS 220.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic audit initiatives.
