Associate Primary Engineer

About the role

Jacobs is expanding its Transmission & Distribution team and is looking for an Associate Primary Engineer to deliver high‑voltage infrastructure projects across utilities, renewables, data centres and energy transition markets in Australia. This role offers the chance to work alongside experienced HV specialists, take ownership of meaningful designs and develop both technical and client‑facing capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver primary substation designs and conduct design reviews for voltages ranging from 22 kV to 500 kV.
• Produce and review layouts, single‑line diagrams (SLDs), sections and equipment specifications.
• Support project delivery against scope, schedule and quality objectives.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Collaborate with civil, structural and secondary engineering teams.
• Mentor developing engineers and contribute to technical excellence across the team.

Required profile

• Experience in HV primary engineering within transmission and distribution environments.
• Knowledge of Australian HV design standards and utility requirements.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering deliverables.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• A collaborative mindset with a commitment to quality outcomes.
• Experience with AIS and GIS substations is highly regarded.
