Accountant – Tax & Compliance

About the role

Tyro is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its Tax & Compliance team on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. You will work directly with a diverse portfolio of customers, handling a range of tax and compliance tasks while navigating multiple accounting systems.

Key responsibilities

• Review Tyro accounting bookkeeping for customers requesting an accountant review.
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) for standard and VIP clients.
• Prepare income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts.
• Prepare financial statements as required and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
• Handle customer support calls related to accounting queries and lodgement walkthroughs.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the Manager of Accounting and Tax.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications (IPA, Tax Agent, BAS Agent or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years experience in public practice as an Accountant or Tax Agent, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Comfortable working with a large tech stack and multiple systems.
• Experience across a variety of industries and a collaborative mindset.
