Accountant – Finance Team

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to join the Finance team of the Melbourne Football Club. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for processing multi‑stream payroll, ensuring statutory compliance and supporting core financial control activities across the club’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and integrate data from payroll and CRM systems.
• Perform month‑end balance‑sheet reconciliations and manage the Fixed Asset Register.
• Prepare and process monthly administration payroll, and support salary and annual‑leave forecasting.
• Process fortnightly casual payroll and football player payroll, including related journals and reconciliations.
• Prepare and lodge statutory obligations such as BAS, Payroll Tax, WorkCover and Superannuation.
• Prepare the annual FBT return in collaboration with senior finance staff.
• Manage accounting and reporting for the Red & Blue Foundation and Melbourne Sports Operation, including budgeting and stakeholder reporting.
• Assist with cash‑flow forecasting, year‑end audit processes and HR reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant or finance graduate with relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in payroll processing and statutory reporting.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑performance sporting environment.
