Technical Operations Manager

About the role

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Technical Operations Manager to lead its NSW concrete laboratory network. Based at the Granville laboratory, the role involves regular travel between Greater Sydney and Newcastle and includes a fully maintained company vehicle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage Granville and Warabrook laboratory operations, overseeing budgets, utilisation, testing revenue, operational costs and profitability.
• Provide strategic leadership and technical governance across the NSW laboratory network, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer requirements.
• Drive compliance with the NATA accreditation framework, relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure OH&S compliance.
• Lead, coach and develop laboratory teams, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Partner with Technical, Field Testing, Operational and Sales teams to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
• Oversee laboratory equipment management, including maintenance, servicing, calibration, capital planning and asset optimisation.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve laboratory processes, efficiencies and service delivery.

Required profile

• Qualifications in Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, Science or a related discipline.
• Experience as a NATA Signatory and managing accredited laboratory operations.
• Proven track record of leading specialist teams and developing high‑performance cultures.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and operational performance.
• Commitment to risk management, safety leadership and a Zero Harm culture.
