Technical Director – Secondary & Protection

About the role

Lead the technical direction of major substation and protection projects that support Australia’s energy future. Provide strategic leadership across complex energy infrastructure projects while shaping engineering excellence and client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee delivery of Secondary & Protection engineering projects, ensuring high‑quality, compliant and innovative outcomes.
• Provide senior technical review and approval of design deliverables to meet quality, schedule and cost objectives.
• Shape engineering standards, best practices and sustainable design approaches for long‑term client value.
• Mentor and develop engineers, building capability and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Strengthen client relationships and support business development and work‑winning activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with 15+ years’ experience in substation design and protection systems.
• Proven success delivering complex engineering projects in the energy sector.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance technical excellence with project performance.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
