Technical Director – Design Management (NSQEP)

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead design management on a major defence infrastructure project in Adelaide. The role sits within the Nuclear Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (NSQEP) capability, delivering safety‑critical work under a robust nuclear safety framework.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integrated design teams across Australia and the UK, fostering a collaborative culture and ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership for complex process engineering systems, focusing on radiological waste management and supporting infrastructure.
• Guide multidisciplinary design integration, resolve technical issues, manage project risks and support successful delivery.
• Mentor engineers and specialists, building capability and promoting a strong nuclear safety culture.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or related discipline; Chartered status or professional membership preferred.
• 25+ years delivering complex projects in defence, nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience working within an NSQEP framework or equivalent highly regulated environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence at senior levels.
