Supervisor, Quality and Compliance

About the role

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Supervisor, Quality and Compliance for HM Prison Barwon, a maximum-security prison in the Barwon South West region of Victoria. Reporting to the Manager, Operational Performance and Compliance, the role ensures the prison complies with department, state and federal legislation and regulations, including the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006. The position is ongoing and full-time, at VPS Grade 4.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate and administer the review, update and publication of local procedural and policy documents, working with prison leadership and middle managers
• Conduct quality assurance reviews and audits, advising on emerging risks in the operational environment
• Lead and manage projects and track progress on actions that embed changes to policy and procedures
• Communicate and consult with staff across the location
• Monitor and report on compliance with local and overarching policies and procedures

Required profile

• Develops guidelines within the work area and resolves operational service delivery problems
• Applies sound theoretical and practical expertise in developing policy options
• Develops and implements operational policy, communication and consultation strategies
• Provides professional technical and specialist advice in the field of quality and compliance
• Qualifications in quality assurance, compliance or OHS are desirable
• Experience in a custodial setting and/or with policy development is desirable
