SMSF Quality & Assurance Specialist

About the role

Stake is looking for a SMSF Quality & Assurance Specialist to join its Stake Super team in Sydney. The role focuses on maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and quality across SMSF accounting, tax, compliance and lodgement processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own the quality review of SMSF accounts, ensuring financial reports, tax returns, governing minutes and audit correspondence meet high standards.
• Build and evolve a robust quality‑assurance framework with clear standards, effective controls and confidence as the team scales.
• Turn quality insights and recurring issues into practical improvements across processes, systems and ways of working.
• Ensure SMSF tax returns are accurate, compliant and lodged on time, supporting Stake’s obligations as a registered Tax Agent.
• Act as a trusted technical authority, resolving complex SMSF, tax, accounting and compliance matters.
• Coach, train and provide feedback to lift capability and quality at the source.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting SMSFs and translate them into actionable guidance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in SMSF accounting, quality assurance or consulting within a professional‑services environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian accounting, taxation, financial reporting and the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act and Regulations.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement on complex work and to influence team standards.
• Comfort working in a hybrid model, spending three days per week in the Sydney office.
