SMSF Manager / Senior Manager

About the role

Grant Thornton Australia is seeking an experienced Self‑Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) professional to join its nationally recognised SMSF practice. The role is available at Manager or Senior Manager level and is based in Sydney with hybrid and flexible working options.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 200 SMSFs, working closely with Partners, Directors and the national SMSF team.
• Provide consultative advice to clients on a range of SMSF matters and develop proactive solutions.
• Oversee preparation and administration of SMSF compliance work, including financial statements, tax returns, activity statements and related documentation.
• Liaise with external auditors, the ATO and ASIC, and escalates compliance issues as needed.
• Assist in preparing Statements of Advice (SOAs) for superannuation planning.
• Lead a team of Associates and Senior Associates, managing workflow and coaching their development.

Required profile

• Significant experience delivering compliance and advisory services to SMSF clients.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a large client portfolio and lead junior staff.
• Clear ambition to progress toward senior leadership within a professional services firm.
