Senior Tax Advisor – Global Tax Transformation

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking a Senior Advisor for Global Tax Transformation & Operations in the Southern Hemisphere. The role supports income tax compliance, reporting and advisory across Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Singapore, working closely with finance and operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with finance and operational teams to provide income‑tax advice and support business decisions.
• Deliver tax effect accounting calculations, prepare income‑tax returns and related disclosures.
• Prepare technical tax advice, position papers and documentation for transactions and projects.
• Manage relationships with tax authorities, responding to information requests and regulatory enquiries.
• Identify, manage and escalate tax risks while ensuring compliance with Rio Tinto tax policies.
• Lead process‑improvement initiatives, leveraging automation, technology and AI‑enabled solutions.

Required profile

• Significant corporate tax experience gained in a professional services firm, commercial organisation or tax authority.
• Strong technical knowledge of corporate income tax, tax compliance and tax effect accounting.
• Professional qualification such as CA ANZ, CPA or CTA and a degree in Commerce, Taxation, Law or related discipline.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, able to explain complex tax matters.
