Associate – Indirect Tax (GST) Consulting

About the role

Join Grant Thornton's National Indirect Tax team to support a diverse client base across sectors such as financial services, real estate, construction, energy, public sector, health, and not‑for‑profit. The role blends GST consulting, state tax advice, and data‑driven analytics while offering structured learning and development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in consulting on GST matters, preparing technical advice for complex transactions.
• Provide advice on state taxes, including stamp duty and land tax.
• Liaise with the ATO and prepare applications on behalf of clients.
• Review client data to prepare recurring activity statements (BAS).
• Support GST data‑analytics and technology‑driven engagements using Alteryx and Microsoft Power BI.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Commerce or related field; preferably studying towards CA, Masters or LLM in Taxation.
• Proven experience in indirect taxes (GST, VAT, state taxes).
• Strong analytical and technical abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with major ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Great Plains) – advantageous.
• Knowledge of Alteryx and Microsoft Power BI for data analytics.
