Senior Systems Engineer (Infrastructure & AI Platforms)

About the role

An established, rapidly growing Canberra-based technology consultancy is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join its Infrastructure and Managed Services team. The role combines traditional systems engineering with exposure to emerging AI infrastructure and platform technologies, working with architects, security specialists and project teams on enterprise and government environments. Security clearance is baseline, with NV1 preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and support enterprise infrastructure across data centre and cloud environments.
• Manage and optimise Windows Server, VMware, Azure and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Support Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, PKI and Group Policy, and administer servers, storage, backup and disaster recovery.
• Support Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, Teams, Intune and SharePoint.
• Troubleshoot networking, security and connectivity issues on-premises and in the cloud.
• Implement infrastructure automation with PowerShell and Infrastructure-as-Code, and deliver refresh, migration and modernisation projects.
• Assist with AI infrastructure deployment, including GPU-enabled environments and AI platform services.
• Work with cybersecurity teams on secure infrastructure and cloud governance, provide Level 3 support and mentor junior engineers, and maintain technical documentation and standards.

Required profile

• 5+ years in a Systems Engineer or Senior Systems Engineer role.
• Strong enterprise infrastructure experience across data centre and cloud environments.
• Project delivery and operational support experience in complex enterprise settings.
• Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills.

Required skills

• Windows Server, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Azure and hybrid cloud, VMware (VCF).
• Enterprise storage, backup and recovery, networking fundamentals.
• PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Desirable: Azure Landing Zones, Terraform or Bicep, Docker, Kubernetes, AI infrastructure, Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI, OpenAI, Databricks, Palo Alto firewalls, and federal government experience.
