Cloud Security Architect (Azure)

About the role

Emanate Technology is recruiting, on behalf of a leading enterprise technology provider supporting a major Federal Government environment, an experienced Cloud Security Architect. The role strengthens Azure cloud security posture across complex environments, supports Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) capabilities, and works with platform, engineering, security and application teams. It is a contract position based in Canberra, ACT, and requires a current NV1 security clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate and remediate Azure security findings using CSPM and CNAPP technologies.
• Conduct security reviews and configuration assessments across Azure services.
• Assess cloud architectures against security, governance and compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain cloud security standards, policies, guardrails and architectural roadmaps.
• Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to implement secure-by-design cloud solutions.
• Drive remediation of vulnerabilities and security risks, and advise on Azure security best practices.
• Support continuous improvement, automation and operational efficiency, and stay current with emerging threats and technologies.

Required profile

• 5+ years in cloud security, cyber security operations or cloud architecture.
• Proven experience securing enterprise-scale Microsoft Azure environments.
• Experience with CSPM and CNAPP platforms such as Prisma Cloud or Cortex Cloud.
• Experience investigating and remediating cloud security risks and vulnerabilities.
• Strong understanding of threat modelling, threat hunting, incident response and vulnerability management.
• Ability to engage with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Current NV1 security clearance.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Policy and Azure DevOps.
• Scripting and automation with PowerShell, Azure CLI or KQL.
• Secure CI/CD practices and Infrastructure as Code security.
• Nice to have: SOC experience, exposure to cloud governance, risk and compliance, knowledge of ACSC ISM, Essential Eight, CIS Benchmarks and DTA security patterns, and certifications such as AZ-500, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, CISSP, CISM or CCSP.
