Senior Staff Specialist – Intensive Care Medicine (12‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine to join a busy, well‑supported regional ICU in Central Queensland. The position is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract with the possibility of extension, based in a state‑of‑the‑art ICU that currently operates 11 beds with capacity to expand to 14.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive intensive care to adult and paediatric patients, including trauma, complex medical, oncology, surgical and paediatric cases.
• Manage a diverse caseload of 450‑650 presentations per year, with 60‑100 paediatric admissions.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, registrars and registrars.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, overtime and emergency response as required.
• Collaborate with the Director, Deputy Director and multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of care.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand or equivalent specialist eligibility.
• Demonstrated experience in adult and paediatric intensive care settings.

• Salary up to $502,876 p.a. for Staff Specialist level and up to $550,085 p.a. for Senior Staff Specialist level.
