Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab

About the role

The Royal Hobart Hospital is expanding its Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to provide specialised care across all phases of cardiac procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care pre‑procedurally, intra‑procedurally and post‑procedurally for diagnostic and interventional cardiology cases.
• Perform Cath Lab roles such as scrub nursing, circulating/scout duties and nurse‑led procedural sedation.
• Monitor haemodynamic status, respond to clinical deterioration and ensure infection control, radiation safety and clinical governance compliance.
• Participate in emergency cardiac response pathways, on‑call services and contribute to education, quality improvement and service development.

Required profile

• Minimum three years clinical experience in cardiology or a comparable acute‑care setting.
• At least five years post‑graduate nursing experience with progressive clinical responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, monitor and manage acutely unwell patients.
• Current or working towards BLS and ALS certification.

Required skills

• ECG interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition.
• Advanced haemodynamic monitoring.
• Knowledge of radiation safety principles and nurse‑led procedural sedation.
• Competency in peripheral IV cannulation.
