Senior Staff Sales Engineer

About the role

Cockroach Labs is expanding its sales engineering team to help customers adopt CockroachDB, a distributed SQL database designed for modern, AI‑driven applications. The role is remote, targeting candidates in the Central territory.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales to introduce CockroachDB to prospects and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Lead product briefings, build proof‑of‑concepts, run live demos, and prototype integrations.
• Partner with product, engineering, and support teams to solve customer challenges and improve the product.
• Identify and address technical objections, developing engineering strategies to remove adoption blockers.

Required profile

• 10‑12+ years of experience gathering requirements, designing solution architectures, and delivering technical presentations.
• Hands‑on experience building scalable, distributed systems and a desire to stay close to the code.
• Strong passion for solving complex technical problems in modern infrastructure and database technologies.
• Ability to build relationships with partners, customers, and open‑source communities.
