Senior Materials and Asset Management Consultant

About the role
AECOM is seeking a senior consultant to apply theoretical knowledge to real‑world engineering challenges across infrastructure, utilities and government projects. The role focuses on durability management, material specification and asset management to deliver sustainable solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement project‑specific durability strategies from concept design through delivery.
- Assess environmental exposures and model service life for concrete, masonry, steel and timber using national and international standards.
- Prepare technical specifications for construction materials, ensuring compliance with AS, BS, EN and ACI standards.
- Plan and execute condition assessments of existing structures, including non‑destructive testing and laboratory analysis.
- Design repair, remediation and rehabilitation strategies, producing documentation for concrete repairs, crack injection, surface treatments and cathodic protection.
- Produce strategic asset management documents such as Asset Maintenance Plans, Asset Lifecycle Plans and Strategic Asset Management Plans.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering or Materials Science.
- Prior consulting experience in Australia with hands‑on exposure to predictive modelling of concrete deterioration.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and willingness to travel for inspection‑based work.
- Experience across major infrastructure sectors such as bridges, tunnels, ports and water infrastructure.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Proficiency in Autodesk software.
- Proficiency in Midas software.
