Director – Structural Engineering Lead – Energy

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Director‑level leader to provide structural engineering expertise for transmission and distribution energy projects. You will shape technical frameworks, mentor engineers and drive innovative design solutions across complex, high‑impact projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and serve as the local go‑to for structural engineering queries, verification and sign‑off on energy infrastructure projects.
• Develop cohesive design solutions and technical frameworks for transmission and distribution projects, ensuring quality, safety and digital innovation.
• Build and maintain client relationships as a trusted advisor, run workshops with client technical teams and external stakeholders.
• Support business development by contributing structural engineering inputs and timeframes to project proposals.
• Champion collaboration, operational efficiency and continuous improvement across the team.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in structural engineering for power, civil, pylon, substation or related energy projects.
• Registration on the National Engineering Register in Australia (RPEV or RPEQ) with Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferred.
• Proven ability to manage projects from concept to delivery, balancing technical excellence with commercial judgement.
• Strong client‑facing and interpersonal skills, with a passion for mentoring the next generation of engineers.
