Senior Manager – External Audit (Sydney)

About the role

KPMG is seeking a Senior Manager to lead external audit engagements for high‑profile clients in Sydney. The role combines technical audit expertise with business development and client relationship management, focusing on the commodities trading sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit engagements for large, complex clients, ensuring high‑quality delivery.
• Oversee all aspects of audit planning, execution, reporting, and client service.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with prestigious audit clients.
• Drive business development initiatives and contribute to the firm’s growth strategy.
• Provide mentorship and inspirational leadership to audit talent.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in external audit, preferably within the commodities trading sector.
• Deep understanding of large‑group audit engagements for financial services clients.
• Knowledge of investment banking, retail banking, and credit risk considerations.
• Familiarity with APRA regulations is desirable.
• Strong analytical and project‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Experience applying IFRS 9 Financial Instruments.
• Experience applying IFRS 13 Fair Value.
• Experience applying IFRS 16 Leases.
• Experience applying IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
