Senior Manager - External Audit

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead external audit engagements for high‑profile clients within KPMG’s Audit practice. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality financial statement audits, providing advisory services, and driving business development while mentoring our talent.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit engagements for large, complex clients across financial services, commodities and banking sectors.
• Oversee all aspects of audit delivery, client service and quality assurance reporting.
• Execute advisory‑related engagements and support business development initiatives.
• Provide inspirational leadership to develop and retain audit talent.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with prestigious audit clients.

Required profile

• Experience with large group audit engagements for financial services clients.
• Knowledge of commodities sectors (gas, power, emissions, agriculture, oil, metals) and related regulatory considerations.
• Understanding of investment and retail banking operations and regulations.
• Familiarity with credit risk concepts and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical and project‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS 9, IFRS 13, IFRS 16, IFRS 15).
• Experience interpreting and applying IFRS to audit engagements.
• Knowledge of APRA regulations (desirable).
