Senior Manager, Data Risk Oversight

About the role

The Senior Manager, Data Risk Oversight will ensure ANZ operates within defined data risk boundaries, aligning with strategic and regulatory requirements. You will lead enterprise‑wide monitoring, evaluation and guidance of data risk activities to promote accountability, transparency and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee adherence to the Data Risk Framework and related policies across the enterprise.
• Identify thematic issues in Data Management, Records Management and Responsible Data.
• Monitor compliance with policy obligations and seek opportunities for control simplification.
• Provide central observability for active monitoring of policy violations.
• Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring of data policies and standards.
• Assess risk exposure against the risk appetite and ensure cross‑business exposure is understood.
• Guide division risk officers on identification, assessment and mitigation of current and emerging data risks.
• Oversee the data quality issues management process.
• Review and challenge progress of divisions in delivering their data roadmaps.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of experience in risk management, data governance or related fields.
• Proven oversight experience in financial services or other regulated environments.
• Familiarity with APRA standards and enterprise risk frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Non‑Financial Risk frameworks and the Three Lines of Defence model.
• Expertise in data governance, risk appetite setting and oversight mechanisms.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable governance practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior leadership level.
• Analytical mindset with experience in risk metrics, dashboards and assurance reviews.
