Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

BlueScope is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join its ANZ Internal Audit team. Based in either Sydney (Mascot) or Melbourne (CBD), you will provide independent assurance and insight across our Australian and New Zealand operations, helping to strengthen governance, risk management and control effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead audit engagements from planning and fieldwork through stakeholder management to final reporting.
• Identify key risks, evaluate controls and develop practical, actionable recommendations.
• Build strong relationships with business leaders while maintaining independence and professional objectivity.
• Deliver high‑quality audit reports that provide meaningful business insights.
• Analyse complex data to spot trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Support internal audit transformation, continuous‑improvement initiatives and the adoption of data‑driven assurance techniques.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in Internal Audit, External Audit or Risk Advisory.
• Background in a large corporate environment or professional services firm.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
• Project‑management capability with the capacity to handle multiple priorities.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as CA, CIA, CISA, CISSP or equivalent are highly regarded.

• Power BI for data analytics and visualisation.
