Senior Financial Controller

About the role

The client is a privately owned, diversified property group seeking a Senior Financial Controller to lead finance across a multi‑entity group of companies, trusts and development vehicles. Reporting jointly to the CFO and Managing Director, you will act as a trusted commercial partner and owner of financial integrity and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and consolidation across multiple entities and trusts in line with AASB/IFRS.
• Oversee development and project accounting, including feasibility, cost‑to‑complete, capitalisation and revenue recognition.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting, treasury, debt facilities, covenant reporting and lender relationships.
• Oversee tax compliance for BAS, FBT, payroll tax, land tax, Division 7A, UPEs and international obligations such as CFC, transfer pricing and thin capitalisation.
• Lead external audit, strengthen financial controls, governance, insurance and ASIC compliance.
• Prepare board packs, investment committee materials and support due diligence, structuring and modelling for acquisitions, JVs and divestments.
• Develop and lead the finance team (AP, AR, payroll, reporting) and drive systems and process improvement.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified with 10+ years post‑qualification experience, including 5+ years in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role.
• Background in property development, real estate, family office or similarly complex multi‑entity structures.
• Strong technical knowledge of consolidation, trust accounting and property development accounting.
• Proven record of leading audits, managing tax compliance and working with lenders and advisors.
• Team leadership experience with the ability to communicate clearly with non‑finance executives and family principals.
• Discreet, hands‑on and comfortable in a privately held, family‑controlled environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and financial modelling.
• ERP experience (Xero, MYOB, NetSuite or similar).
• Knowledge of AASB/IFRS reporting standards.
