Senior Tax Accountant

About the role

Quantum House Australia and Australian Tax Experts are a small Sydney CBD practice advising businesses with complex structures. The Senior Tax Accountant will handle end‑to‑end tax compliance and advisory work for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Run tax compliance and preparation for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals with complex structures.
• Prepare and review financial statements under the applicable reporting framework.
• Review junior staff work and raise the technical standard of deliverables.
• Advise clients on tax consequences of decisions, highlighting opportunities and risks.
• Stay current with legislative changes and contribute to the firm’s technical knowledge base.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification (or substantial progress), Chartered Tax Adviser highly regarded.
• Five or more years in Australian public practice with senior‑level tax engagement responsibility.
• Strong judgement to assess tax positions and know when to seek further review.
• Ability to explain technical tax matters clearly to clients.
• Accuracy under competing deadlines and self‑discipline for onsite work in a small team.

Required skills

• Tax compliance across entities (companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals).
• Financial statement preparation and review.
• Group structures, Division 7A, trust distributions, cross‑border tax issues.
• ATO dispute resolution.
