Senior Drafter/Designer - Water Infrastructure

About the role

KBR's Infrastructure Services Australia is looking for an experienced Senior Drafter/Designer for water pipelines and mechanical piping, based in Brisbane. The role supports an existing portfolio of projects and contributes to significant water infrastructure projects through partnerships with water authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Use 2D and 3D computer-aided design applications to develop and record designs as models and drawings.
• Evaluate design intent provided by professional engineers and translate it into models or drawings.
• Assist in designing larger, more complex assignments involving conventional plans, investigations and surveys, covering water and wastewater treatment, stormwater and drainage, pumping, piping and pipelines, chemical storage and dosing, and minor structural and civil elements.

Required profile

• Experience of design in civil water, pipelines, drainage and/or land development.
• Previous consulting, design or technical experience on water infrastructure and linear pipeline design as a designer.
• Confidence working with stakeholders at all levels and willingness to give technical assistance to designers and less experienced engineers.
• Ability to work one-on-one and facilitate group discussions to achieve good 2D/3D design performance.
• Demonstrated understanding of local industry standards and market sector.

Required skills

• Associate degree, Diploma, Associate Diploma of Design or Engineering or similar para-professional qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive drafting and design experience in mechanical/process engineering using various software, preferably AutoCAD.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
